Find the Performance Fabrics Used on the HGTV's Celebrity IOU

Our upholstery fabric is popping up in some of the most heartwarming and inspiring interior designs on television. Thanks to the generosity of celebrities including Snoop Dogg, Howie Mandel, Lisa Kudrow and Kristen Davis, some very deserving homeowners are getting much-needed renovations. This is all the handiwork and thoughtful interior designs created by Drew and Jonathan Scott, aka The Property Brothers. Their hit series Celebrity IOU is streaming now on the Discovery+ network and new episodes air on HGTV (check listings or set your DVR). Here’s how these beautiful new spaces are designed to stay looking new and feeling fresh thanks to resilient, resplendent performance fabrics.

A Custom Banquette Upholstered in Performance Velvet

Actor/comedian Howie Mandel wanted to create a relaxing and sophisticated interior for his friend and long-time business manager. To convert his Los Angeles apartment from its vaguely college dorm decor into a magazine-worthy setting, the brothers did some reconfiguring. One designer secret they employed was to create a dining spot without an actual dining room: the custom banquette.

Designers create banquette seating because it is compact yet comfortable and has an intentional and sophisticated look that comes from being custom-designed and built into the interior. Usually flanking one or two sides of a dining area, a custom banquette also offers visual relief by using a completely matched set of dining chairs.

They selected Crypton Home Lush in Avocado. This lustrous, velvety swath of green serves as the key pop of color in an otherwise neutral-toned design. They chose a clean line with no tufting or buttons. This complements the modern stair rail and vertical reeding directly behind the banquette. So the whole area feels deftly crafted. Snoop Dogg Chooses Black Performance Leather for Luxurious Bench Seating

The brothers also converted a space for rapper/actor and Renaissance man Snoop Dogg. He wanted to carve a fabulous man cave out of the unused garage of his hard working youth-football league commissioner. “The Commish,” as Snoop calls him, needed a versatile office/conference/dining space. A banquette was the answer to fitting this in a small spot. Snoop wanted natural leather, and that’s exactly what he got, but with a bonus! Our performance leather, powered with the stain-repellent power of patented stain-resistant technology, is offered in dozens of styles and colors. They chose Bromley in Noir from United Fabrics. A vertical channel tuft adds even more elegance. It harkens back to those famous LA restaurant booths where the movers and shakers of Hollywood are known to meet for power lunches. In this case, gorgeous Italian leather graces a team-ready “bench” that everyone wants to be on!

When Lisa Kudrow asked Celebrity IOU for help transforming her cousin’s apartment, the request included that it be pet-friendly. For this generous foster-pet parent, Drew and Jonathan came up with some clever features. They include a balcony dog-run and some amazing living room furniture from American maker Cisco Home. On a trip to the LA store, they picked Cisco’s Camden sofa in Crypton Arlington Stone and their Salvador chairs in Crypton Lester Snow. These beauties will hold up to all of the jumping, snuggling and snoozing these happy foster pets will bring.

Property Brother Jonathan Scott and actress Zooey Deschanel also opted for Crypton in their own home, a historic Brentwood property that they’ve lovingly restored and made into an eco-friendly paradise of high design and ultimate liveability.
