All New & So Good

Good news from High Point Market! Not even a pandemic can stop the forward movement of the design industry! Crypton Home Fabric, makers of performance textiles for upholstery and other interior applications, is rolling out plenty of new styles for Spring/Summer 2020 through furniture makers in High Point, North Carolina, the country’s furniture epicenter.? Those makers also have new silhouettes, new styles and ideas that will no doubt create an infusion of inspiration for interior design professionals and design enthusiasts alike. Although we were unable to gather this season, in partnership with High Point Market, Crypton’s experts have spotted several must-see’s from 5 great American furniture makers. Here’s what they found:

Mid-Century Marvels

Perhaps no fabric is hotter right now than richly toned velvet, and Crypton has rolled out its finest velvet line to date with Sintra. Sintra is popping in jewel tones, deep neutrals and spice market hues on chairs and ottomans at the masterful mid-century style maker Thayer Coggin.

Thayer Coggin decks out its “Decked Out” ottomans (perfect size for doubling up!) in Crypton’s new Sintra velvet in Tourmaline.

Be sure to choose a Crypton fabric (like this incredible Sintra Tourmaline velvet) so that these stylish Thayer Coggin ottomans can be used for their intended purpose: the putting up of feet. Crypton fabrics have silver-ion technology for antimicrobial resistance and are simple to keep clean and fresh, even with kids, pets and lots of chilling out. Those pretty legs are offered in a choice of satin brass or polished stainless steel.

Thayer Coggin’s sleek swivel chair, Jo, is enrobed in Crypton’s new Sintra velvet in “Oro,” a saffron tinged deep gold.

The Jo swivel chair is one of Thayer Coggin’s new modern classics designed by Ransom Culler. This curvaceous occasional chair features a memory swivel and a metal base available in either brushed stainless steel or brushed bronze. Jo is offered in any of Thayer Coggin’s Crypton home fabrics, but is looking especially “right now” in this deep golden Sintra velvet.

Thayer Coggin’s “Laid Back” lounge chair is looking cool in Crypton Sintra velvet in shark, a deep cool grey.

Designed by Milo Baughman in 1959, the Laid Back lounge chair is a mid-century modern classic. You can spot the Scandinavian influence in its sleek, handcrafted solid walnut legs. But the comfort is anything but minimal, with an ultra plush cushion seat for maximum comfort. A matching foot ottoman is also available. Select from any of Thayer Coggin’s beautifully curated selections of Crypton fabrics to ensure spills and stains won’t mar your classic choice of comfy chair!

Always-Right Whites

Crypton is perhaps best known for helping make white sofas (and chairs and more!) the go-to choice in American homes. No slipcover needed, no worry about stains or spills, they’re even protected with silver ions for antimicrobial power. People love to upholster in white because it is always right, even as styles and trends change, and it can be easily accessorized with whatever color trend or seasonal look you want to jump on. This white trend is still going strong, with several High Point Market furniture brands offering lovely choices this season.

Can a chair look both cool and hot? Thayer Coggin’s Twiggy Lounge Chair in Crypton Marlow Snow does.

Twiggy, the enchantress is perennially a part of the Thayer Coggin collections because it is quite simply a marvelous chair. Somehow in this iteration with its blackened legs and textural Marlow Snow Crypton fabric, Twiggy looks extra graphic.

Pearson’s gently sloping, rounded Harper sofa welcomes all in a white Crypton fabric.

Pearson’s Harper sofa is just classic enough to go almost anywhere and to work with almost any decor. Especially in this white Crypton fabric. Yet there’s nothing shy about its graceful slopes and beautifully overstuffed cushions.

Another High Point Market high point is the Vanguard Lucca sectional in white Crypton home fabric.

Like a designer linen nest, the Vanguard Lucca sectional is big enough for even a socially distanced cocktail hour.

From the prominent High Point Market showroom Rowe comes the elegant Brooke two-cushion sofa shown in a bright white Crypton fabric.

The Brooke sofa from the Robin Bruce collection at Rowe has details that harken the traditional, but a tailored neatness that makes it entirely transitional. With low, rounded arms deep, cushy seat cushions, it looks just right for two people to curl up and watch something fabulous. No worries about movie snacks, spill away, it’s all easily cleanable.

On Softer Notes

In a seemingly ever-harsher world, people will be looking for softness at home. Crypton’s soft textures join with soft, soothing color choices at some outstanding furniture makers this season.

A pair of Rowe’s Leo sofas in a lush, blush Crypton fabric (106-CR93) that feels velvety soft yet repels stains.
MT Company’s Ashbury from the Miles Talbott collection of sectionals is shown here and at the top of thisp post swathed in a cool, cloud-like linen-y GREENGUARD Gold certified sustainable Crypton performance fabric.
