Q: Tell us a little bit about House Sprucing

A: House Sprucing is a full-service interior design studio & home furnishing store based in Dallas Fort Worth and serves clients nationwide. We opened our first a few years ago, but we have been designing together since we got married in 2007. 

Q: What would you say your design style is, and what kinds of projects do you work on?

A: House Sprucing specializes in “New Traditional” design, our projects feature timeless details with a modern flair. We really believe in the power of your home to impact your state of mind and quality of life, so we focus on livable luxury. That’s why we love Crypton performance so much. Whether we are working on a small furniture refresh or building designs for a dream home from scratch, we know that Crypton will help us design a luxury environment that homeowners can live in. 

Q: When you first started your design business, you stocked lots of fabric brands. What changed, and why did you end up narrowing down to just Crypton performance fabric?

A: We always start design projects with a conversation about how our clients live their lives and how they want to move through and feel in their homes. 100% of the time, clients wanted to invest in pieces that told a luxury story while allowing them to enjoy their home for many years. They don’t want to have to worry about furniture getting ruined and needing to be replaced within a couple years.

When we still worked with other fabrics, we would inevitably find ourselves in conversations where a client may have picked something off the bat that met their aesthetic vision but didn’t meet their lifestyle needs. Ultimately, we would find ourselves pointing them toward similar Crypton performance options and almost always end up trading their original selection with a Crypton fabric that met both their aesthetic vision and their lifestyle requirements.

At the end of the day, narrowing down to Crypton enabled us to expedite the design process, helping us get projects done faster while limiting post-project problems.  

Q: You say that Crypton projects go faster and have fewer warranty claims. How has this helped increase your firm’s profitability?

A: When we can expedite projects by specifying the best upholstery options for our clients, we can take on more projects. Additionally, since switching completely to Crypton, we find ourselves dealing with far fewer post-project requirements. I don’t think we’ve ever had to replace a piece upholstered in Crypton performance fabric after placing it in a client’s home. That saves us admin time and money.  

Q: It makes sense that you would decide to only show performance fabrics to clients with busy lifestyles, but why Crypton?

A: Crypton is just different than other performance fabrics out there. It is the only fabric we will use in our own home because we know we can count on being able to select timeless patterns and textures with luxurious hands, that can stand up to the wear-and-tear of four kids running around. And, let’s be honest, sometimes it’s us more than our kids that we must worry about! We love entertaining and we are messy, creative people! It’s just so nice not having to stress about our furniture while we’re all having fun and moving through our days. Other performance fabrics tend not to feel as good and the technology just doesn’t last as long. It’s such a relief knowing that, for as long as we decide to keep a piece of Crypton performance furniture, it’s going to repel moisture, odor, and stains, as promised.  

Q: If you could tell consumers one reason that they should request Crypton fabric when working with design teams like yours, what would it be?

A: Building a home from scratch with all-new custom upholstery, or even just refreshing a few pieces, is only a big investment if you must keep replacing things. When you choose Crypton performance, you can count on a huge ROI because the technology works forever, and the furniture really does stand up to daily use over long periods. We don’t use anything else and don’t see that changing any time soon!
